Don’t ask guitarist/producer Jeff Baxter how he got his nickname, ‘Skunk’. He won’t ever tell you. It's not that he doesn't like the name, he just doesn’t want to tell.…
I will buy an album without hearing even one note. Basically if a solid favorite of mine releases something new, I am getting it. No matter what! Thus was the case with these three recent acquisitions. From an old favorite to few of my, surprisingly, new obsessions, these three are a nice snapshot halfway through 2024. Enjoy the new reviews!
Larger view of poster The Covid19 pandemic was an awful, hopefully once-in-a-lifetime event. Of all the liberties we lost during that time, going to concerts was not at the top…
Brittany Howard is a dynamic, passionate performer. This fact is undisputable. So I was confident that seeing her perform these new songs was going to be exciting. I was right!

His hands and fingers touch that fretboard ever so lightly and just the littlest bend in his finger elicits a wail from that instrument that sounds like a soaring eagle.
In 2008, during a quiet period without new studio albums, Steve Miller performed in San Francisco, joined by notable musicians like Al Jardine. There, inspired, he planned his cover album 'Bingo.' Remembering harmonica player Norton Buffalo, who died in 2009, and recounting buying a sitar-guitar in 1965, Miller's show was complemented by a Scrojo poster, capturing the concert's essence.
I would say that Peter Frampton was my gateway into rock music. I couldn’t really help it, being an impressionable teen when “Frampton Comes Alive” took over the world. I…
